Angie and I volunteered to sponsor two of the middle
school’s refugee families for Christmas providing a $50 Safeway gift card for
each as well as a couple gifts for each child. Our Adullam friends took care of
one family and I wanted to make the other family available to members of the
Cory-Merrill neighborhood.
On Thursday afternoon of this past week when it was 12
degrees outside I reluctantly walked down the block and placed just 5 flyers in
mailbox’s. By Friday afternoon 4 out of the 5 flyer recipients responded taking
care of 4 out of the 5 members of that family.
I know that developing community participation won't always be that easy...
BUT if direct mail (of all methods) worked for this little project I have to consider...
If a cause is worthy, the objective is reasonable, and the project is local it may not be so difficult to get folks interested and involved.
