“I’ve been in and out of all kinds of things—like self deprecation, self-interests, ego trips, alcohol, and other addictions. I’ve failed many times to avoid those kind of temptations. But that’s not what the devil was really interested in. What he was trying to do is make me feel apart from God. Now I know that what Satan would like most to take from us is our true knowledge of who we are—which is children of God.” -Rich Mullins
Last Sunday at Adullam’s gathering I talked 1 John chapter 3
of which I centered on the question, “What is your image of God?” John mentions the word, children, 15 times in the 5 chapters
of 1 John and most often it’s used when addressing us the reader as “Dear,
children.” What marvelous love
the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God!
That’s who we really are. (1 John 3:1, The Message)
I believe from the beginning of time the devil's top focus on us children has been to mess with who we imagine God to look like, how we imagine God feels about us, what he'd say to us when we encounter him face to face...
I'll let Brennan Manning take it from here...
